Re: Are you a Ham?
Hmmm, can't seem to be able to edit my original post to put the images back in. Anyway, currently have a Harvey-Wells Bandmaster in the que but am seriously considering selling it and going strictly with solid state. I recently threw together a little rig here in the shack. I have a Kenwood TM-281A (mobile unit) connected to a power supply here on the bench. 2 meter transceiver connected to an external antenna jury rig mounted here inside the house until this ridiculous weather decides to go away and the sun (remember that?) decides to show up. I have less than $275 in the whole rig.
I have this thing set up to automatically scan 20 repeaters in my general geopraphic area. Working with the capabilities of this unit has slightly soured me on the limitations of the older tube transmitters. Still love the old tube receivers, however.

Re: Are you a Ham?
Not a ham yet, but since they dropped the code requirement for novice...I am probably going to try. I have been a fan of the ARRL Handbooks and CB radios for years.
