I have an old computer, is there anything I can salvage from it ? What is the best way to dump it?

Thanks, RK Rookie

If you have a collection of old computers you can sale a lot on line. I sold some processors and memory I had from the 90s to a recycling company. I sent them a total weight, what it was and they emailed me a shipping label. I made quite a bit from old 90s stuff I had but forgot about in my workshop. If its just one I would probably send it to my local recycling facility.

I would like to follow up:

If there are computing tasks that don't require a bleeding edge computer and or there are apps or substitute apps you would like to run but not on the high end gaming machine this is where the older computer still works well for...

I use nothing but older computers of which I paid $75 for one of them some 8 ya.. The rest were for free...

The Microsoft operating system fails to support older equipment as we all know.

When the MS OS fails, look the Linux in many of its flavors to get the old machine up and running with a new look.

There is great support for the older printers, scanners and other devices that MS would not even look at.

Be aware that Linux support for 32 bit systems is waning but it is out there.

I trash a computer when the MOBO fails as I have had happen at least twice...

I, am now slowly converting to 64 bit and have four machines still at 32 bit. Only because they have not failed...

Only regret is there is no support for SCSI interfaces and for 95' era scanners. I guess they will go to oblivion...

Happy computing...
