GE console finished
GE console finished
I bought this GE model 165 at an Estate sale last year, [It is a Westinghouse, but I used the GE schematic].I did the chassis during the winter .
Well now I had some warmer weather, so I did the cabinet with gojo and Trade secret.
It turned out very nice, so I thought I would post some photos, before I put it on Kijiji
because I just don't have room for more consoles.
I would like to keep it because it is a nice looking radio and it plays very good.

May be we have a moderator who can tell me why i can't post more than three photos?
I resize all my photos and they all work on other forums.

Re: GE console finished
Nice,
Don't know what it is, but most of the Canadian sets, (the ones I have seen) look far more elegant than U.S. sets overall, there are exceptions. The use of garniture and real marquetry greatly enhance the cabinet. No slouching in the chassis either...
I really can't pin point this. I wonder if it has to do with the overall economy or is it a cultural thing.
None the less, like any 70 yo furniture product, aging and darkening of the finish happens. Re-finishing, toning, bringing out the colors of the real woods ultimately restores their beauty.
Great Job!
Chas

As always, another fantastic restoration! I don't blame you for wanting to keep it as it's a beautiful radio!
