PUT the tube shields on
I recently recapped a Westinghouse model 165 and I had a terrible noise coming from the radio and it would not bring in a station.
I spent a lot of time trying to find the problem.
When I bought the radio it did not have tube shields, so I never thought much about it . a good friend was helping me find the problem and he said '' make sure the tube shields are in place''.
I had some spare ones so I put them on and ''you guessed it'' The radio now works very good.
Lesson learned;;see if it is supposed to have tube shields , and put them on.
