Majestic 5T10W schematic
Picked up a Majestic 5T10 which someone had already been working on. "Red Flag". I found a schematic on Nostalgia but it is really small and doesn't provide a lot on info.
The radio powers up and does play somewhat but the sound rattles so much it hard to tell what is playing. I lightly push in on the speaker cone and it gets a little better.
Thoughts, suggestions, schematic anyone?

Re: Majestic 5T10W schematic
Try a substitute PM speaker known to sound good. Disconnect the voice coil on the radios speaker for the test.
Do, replace the filter caps and all the bypass and coupling caps. Check the values of the resistors. Most seem to be a high value and age will make them much higher. Most will be 20%, a silver band 10%.
Replace components on a one/two then check for operation. Any failure can be traced to the last two components replaced...
"M" = 1000
"Meg" = million
Text in schematic says "If noisy reverse plug".

Re: Majestic 5T10W schematic
Ben,
If you have another speaker in another radio, you can disconnect the speaker voice coil leads as already suggested and then use jumper leads to go from the radio under test to one that you know works. If the test speaker is an electro-dynamic type, you can turn it's radio on to let the power supply energise the field coil while you use it as a test speaker.

Re: Majestic 5T10W schematic
well it looks like the speaker is crappie. I connect a 5 inch speaker and it played great. Problem appears to be rust or corrosion
in the coil. The 5 inch speaker will not fit in then case so mlooks like a need a speaker rebuild or a donor radio with a 4 inch
dynamic speaker. Anyone got a dependable speaker repair source. I see speakerfreak95 on youtube but no email for him.

Re: Majestic 5T10W schematic
Someone had already been tinkering in the this radio and one thing that sticks out is this is not the original speaker. I can tell from the way it is mounted with new hole for the mounting bolts. The schematic give no reference to the speaker except it is 4 inches. I know the 5 inch I connect was 3.2 ohms and it played great but too large for the cabinet. Anyone have a few pictures of the inside of the chassis
and speaker specs. This is how I received it. Well heck....appears Im having issue with my link.

Re: Majestic 5T10W schematic
The value you gave should be about what impedance voice coil should be.

Re: Majestic 5T10W schematic
Well finally got the Majestic 5T10 working and paint. Looks great, sounds great. Recapped everything, replaced the busted dynamic speaker with a pm speaker and coil. Replaced the #47 bulb with an led.
