RCA cabinet restoration Empty RCA cabinet restoration

Post by Chrisav8tr on Sat Mar 04, 2017 12:10 pm

Hi all,
I found this beauty of a console and want to put it as the centerpiece in my fireside room. The Tuner works great (minus a slight calibration of the station needle). The record Player needs a needle replacement and a little work. I could really use help in this area. The Amp and speakers seem to work fine but not sure if they are capable of sounding better?

Here is the info I have gathered so far.

Unit Model # RCA VGT 70F
Turntable # RP 216 C R2S (barely legible) it has MAR 31 65 stamp on the underside of the turntable.

Questions to you all please.

I can't find the needle I need based on the model # I have derived from the bottom of the turntable. Can anyone help in this area? I will post pictures next when I can figure how too.

Is there a way to test the sound system? I know nothing of electronics but willing to learn.

I live in Dayton Ohio and no one around here works on these systems. Can I send my turntable anywhere for a function check and cleaning?

Thanks for your time and help!

For your cartridge and/ or needle try '' voice of music''. I have bought from them and they are very good to deal with.. You should give them the model of the turntable and if you have a number for the cartridge, give it also.

Here's the link. http://www.thevoiceofmusic.com/ Just contact him and he will help you get what you need as far as a needle and possibly a cartridge if you need one.
