Our friend in NM has a couple of tortoise in his back yard. Slow to come to food but ideal pets as they travel probably 6 months of the year. Ideal pets as during winter they make a nice little home by digging and covering and don't even come back out until things warm up. A little lettuce out on the lawn or patio and they come crawling. Nice pets, no walking required and no clean up to be done. Just beware of tasty plants, they do like them.
