As hard as it is to find a suitable plug and cord to finish off a project, I usually get a suitably heavy duty 2 wire extension cord and cut the plug end to length. There is a Big Lots here with 2 thrift stores adjacent. I went to get an extension cord there. The Big Lots looked like it had been looted for all it was worth with at least ten apiece in 3 register lines with carts stacked taller than those in the post commissary on end of month payday. I am unsure if the joint will reopen. I escaped to the thrift stores to find a suitable size speaker to do my repairs on the console. The only ones had enclosures suitable to take up residence, so I headed out. On the way I found a nice Hunter programmable thermostat with its batteries, doing its stuff. I got it for $1.01 plus tax. It is now on my wall working very nicely with a set of instructions downloaded from the Hunter web site. Home depot had no post apocalyptic stockage problems and I got the cord there.

Our store looked like Russia when we closed on Christmas Eve. I have never seen the shelves so bare. Many retailers do not re-stock this time of year as they do any other time. They want to get rid of their seasonal merchandise.

The Big Lots store is closing? I haven't been to ours lately. Are all Big Lots closing or just the one by you?

The big lots here in my area were nice to go to about 20 years ago. They would have closeouts and refurbished stuff. I use to get a lot of stuff there. One time I got a bunch of name brand hand tools and some hardware from some store they bought out. Now it seems its like a dollar store but bigger. I rarely go anymore.

There are locations that handle that stuff. Around here there are about 3-4 of them I can get to and each has more and better items. It was still nice to have one within 6 miles of me.
