Hallicrafters S-53a and S-107
Does anyone know a reasonable source for schematics for these radios that also isn't radiomuseum? Thanks.

Re: Hallicrafters S-53a and S-107
One reason I asked was because of a article I saw that gives some values of replacement caps to use in the IF xfmr assemblies to replace the originals so as to clean house of the failure prone components.

Re: Hallicrafters S-53a and S-107
I'm about halfway through re-capping the S-107, having started it last Sunday when it was hotter than hot outside. I had forgotten about the IF xfmr reference in this thread. The part number stamped on the can is the one for the 1st and 2nd IF stages in the radio. I want to get it up and running to see what it will do on my antenna out back. This radio is very sensitive and I was able to get a lot of traffic on just a 20 inch long stiff vertical copper wire.

I've received the micas of the value given in the treatise on SMD in these and am still awaiting the elyts. Just got notice that the label was created. I'll try finishing the paper caps shortly. I'm sure it had a filter cap failure, the unit just started a nasty 60Hz hum before the last shut off.

Re: Hallicrafters S-53a and S-107
Well I raided the caps I had for other projects and finished the S107. I did 3 alignments. There is no SMD. That having been said, It is unfortunate or fortunate to have to say that the S-107 does not perform as well as the shortwave receiver in my Magnavox. I guess the latter is more attuned to full audio range listening than the voice and CW ranges of the S-107.
