why aren't we chatting it up?
why aren't we chatting it up?
i was wondering why we aren't very active here. sure we are all waiting for arf but why? this is a good site and we can communicate/post just as easy as arf, didn't most arf members save the addy to here? i miss my daily arf also but i'm perfectly willing to chat here also,n.a. is just too anally occupied these days for any friendly chatter-to many jerks there. ron's site is also nice but very little traffic there also,so whats' up everyone?

Re: why aren't we chatting it up?
hi bill, good to see i'm not alone!
interesting story;
yesterday i was contacted by the local aerospace museum-formerly mcclellan air force base-asking if i would donate an old radio for their museum. i was honored!
they specified it would be displayed by a new plane they just received-a 1953 c-131,and the radio had to be produced in '53.
most of my collection is pre-ww2 so i am slim in after '42 radios.
when i got home last night i dug up a philco 53-564-PERFECT!
they will pick it up today.
neat,huh?

Re: why aren't we chatting it up?

Re: why aren't we chatting it up?
I had a hard time finding it yesterday. I am out of town and forgot that the name didn't have the radio heaven thing in it. So, now, here I am!
Now what we could say is that while ARF is getting a face lift, you guys are busy sniffing solder fumes as you aggressively repair/restore those gems that you have been saving for so many years.

i think it's just like arf was in the beginning,if you look back in the archives you'll see days go by with no posts.
it takes time to get the ball rolling and form a new "family" so to speak,so shout it out, somebody go find a sick radio and ask for a forum bailout!!

Re: why aren't we chatting it up?
Hi, How many of you remember when ARF had only 1or 2 topic headings? Not many I suspect. It evolved over a decade or more, picking up members along the way. Members died or left, to be replaced by others. It is an ever changing entity.
You can't expect to put up a cookie cutter facsimile and expect a great rush of members. Something new and innovative might help. We could talk politics and other controversial things here in the beginning. Like it or not, but it was different.
I have no suggestions. If I had a great idea I might keep it to myself.

i'd rather see a humor section than politics-usually ends up being the same thing anyway-some laughs at others' expense.!

I'm not chatting cause I just had a steel plate put in my shoulder. I'm slow typing even with two hands.

Yeah, the largest thread on here is about the stimulus package. I'm not stimulated yet...

Feel free to add some levity to the Clubhouse! Wish Richard Arnold could find his way here...he always has some good jokes.

Re: why aren't we chatting it up?
Welcome to TRF, Lou.. It has been picking up a little more in the last few days, but, alot of people are at the temporary ARF.
Alan made it clear that one is only temporary, and, data from that one cannot be retained when old one is back up.
Several people had been trying to convince him to keep the new one, and, use the old one as a data back up. However, if he did that, we wouldn't be able to easily look at old posts. Also, new one isn't as nice.
Glad yyou came....
