Correct way to re-install IF transformer
I messed up when I removed one of my IF transformer (T1), from an old radio and did not realize there was a certain way it had to go back in i.e. color coded on the bottom. I went to put it back in when I realized my mistake. Any help would be appreciate. Next time I'll be sure to take a picture, I do have one of the bottom of the chassis, but it is hard to see the color code. Pic attached.

Thanks
Frank

Re: Correct way to re-install IF transformer
If it were me, I would assume the green terminal would be for the plate. I would measure between the green terminal and the one over your finger to make sure they have continuity. That would be the primary. The other half would be the secondary. Perhaps an expert can chime in here to correct me if I'm wrong. Good luck.

Re: Correct way to re-install IF transformer
WC, Thanks. The terminal is actually blue not sure why it looks green in the picture. Here is a bottom view of were it came from, there is a black wire, green wire, .005 cap, 1 meg resistor and a connection from tube 12BE6 pin 5, all tied into the IF transformer.

Re: Correct way to re-install IF transformer
I do not remember your saying which radio you are working on, so is it the RCA X551? If so, and after you have found the primary and secondary of the IF transformer, you would connect the blue terminal to the connection going to the plate, pin 5, of the 12BE6. The other wire to the primary is B+ and comes from the 50uf output filter cap. The #3 connection on the IF transformer, the one opposite the blue terminal, goes to Pin 1, the grid, of the 12BA6 IF amplifier, and the other wire to the secondary goes to the AVC buss. If you have questions or need assistance with any phase of this, let us know. Referring to the schematic should get you where you need to be. Good luck.

WC, there are two (2) connection from the 12BE6 tube going to the IF transformer (pin's 5 & 6). Pin 6 is the black wire. I notice you only mention pin# 5 12BE6.

Re: Correct way to re-install IF transformer
Pin 6 is the screen for the 12BE6. It has B+ on in. So it would connect to the other half of the primary. What radio are you working on, make and model?

Re: Correct way to re-install IF transformer
Ok, that is the schematic I am looking at. What I posted earlier should get you close. Good luck.
