I found a way to turn an old Bell and Howell/Heathkit 5 MHz solid state scope into something useful:

The entire chassis was gutted and a few parts, like the power transformer, salvaged. I put a plastic, kind of a fresnel lens magnifier behind the green graticule glass as a light spreader, and a 5W fluorescent candelabra base lamp and lamp holder back where the CRT used to be.
