Dumont
Check out the power transformer in this baby. You could use it in a welder. It must weigh 50 pounds.

Isn't this the Dumont model all the "professional" tv collectors get all ga-ga over?

Re: Dumont
Two thoughts spring into my head on that model:
Ugly, and you'll need a chiropractor to fix your back after you attempt to move it...

Re: Dumont
There is a thread on VK about one of these Dumont TV's. I personally find them rather ugly, as you do, but it is a DUMONT! I think the continuous tuner with FM in the middle is rather unique. I'm not sure I would want to mess with one. I just found the power transformer to be huge. Wonder how much the whole tv would weigh.

So then you agree then Bill, it's an engineering marvel, but in the looks department, it's got a face only an engineer could love!

Sorry, just ribbin' ya. Don't be offended

Re: Dumont
I had no idea you owned one of these sets, Bill. I did not intend to make a disparaging comment about your set. The particular one I posted a picture of I still think is kinda ugly. The Dumont part and the tuner is the fascination for me. Some guys go all ga-ga over the Zenith sets from the late 30's. The ones that bring the big bucks. I think they are ugly too, so that shows my taste, huh?

Re: Dumont
No insult taken.... Personally, I like the looks of the Dumont. And, Oh. I think MOST Zenith radios are dirt ugly.
