Three Cabinets Finished Empty Three Cabinets Finished

I just finished and delivered three radio cabinets.  Take a look at https://www.facebook.com/alfortunatomastercraftsman.  The Nordmende was just a touch up.

You do fantastic work, Al. Did you ever work with some kind of purple wood from South America (I think). I have a friend who made me a clock base out of some scraps of that stuff. It was so gaudy, it was cute. He finished it in gloss poly and it looked like glass. The name of that wood escapes me just now.

Thanks.

@WC, That would be purple heart.  Striking when you first see it, but it would wear on me after a while.  Never worked with it.

That's it, purple heart. Allegedly hard as hard can get. That clock is hanging above my desk as we speak. It gets lots of comments. Besides a base made of purple heart, the numbers are free-set engine turned stainless, and the hands are also engine turned stainless. He made everything but the electronic movement himself. Quite a talented guy. My friend made an entire bedroom set out of that purple wood for a big fancy shack in Paradise Valley. Can you imagine your entire bedroom furniture made out of purple heart? Whoa! It cost them something like $45,000 ten years ago.

I have a fairly large Golden Oak Crucifix that hangs on my living room wall. It's solid oak.
