Pure India Ruby muscovite mica....
Pure India Ruby muscovite mica....
Has been integrated into one of my radio restorations for an experimental new process...
I've had the idea and the parts for over 10 years now wanting to try this!
Wish me luck!
If it works I'll post in the electrical section....
Curious yet?

Mornin' doc. As a matter of fact, I am curious. I will admit to being an idiot and so am asking: What is "Pure India Ruby muscovite mica", what is it used for, and why would I need any? What would I do with it if I had some?

Re: Pure India Ruby muscovite mica....
Yes! It's a very stable substance and used in CDE's (Cornell Dublier Electronics) surface mount mica chip capacitors
These are TINY! But that's why I was after. Rock-solid stability and tiny size to fit inside the original base of the troublesome IF transformers that develop "silver mica disease".
I bought these little guys over a decade ago. I'm hoping to "pioneer" a new process for IF rebuilding. By stacking these, you can get darn near exact values that will fit inside where standard cap's have a hard time finding enough real estate.

I tested my Philco printed circuit AA5 with the newly rebuilt transformers. It brought in 2 local strong stations only, but it still worked. I'm hopeful a full alignment will prove this system.
It's not for everyone, but ya heard it here first folks
