Bedside Radio
Bedside Radio
Does anyone here have a vintage radio by there bedside? That would include vintage clock radios. I use mine for some DXing before I fall asleep. Sometimes I wake up with the radio on and my fingers on the tuning knob, also to get the latest news and weather before I drag my rear out of bed in the morning.

Yep, I have a little Emerson 522. I listen to the Grand Old Opry sometimes after I go to bed.

Re: Bedside Radio
I've been thinking of moving one of my vintage clock radios to my bedside. Maybe I get on that in the next day or so.

Yup, I have a Sears 4470 that I listen to WSM or short wave when I can't sleep. I added a head phone jack so as not disturb the wife. Great little radio with a tuning eye. It's the first one that I did after my bout of cancer and it got my mind going again. More or less saved me. Love those old radios.
If anyone has a bezel and glass for it this one please lit me know.

Re: Bedside Radio
Of course. Had different models over the years....
Remember I specialize in tube-powered clock radios.
Right now I don't have anything exciting, rather lackluster in design, but works great for waking me up.
GE model C-403 series. I believe it might be the C-403D (D suffix), but I'd have to check. Here's a pic:

Re: Bedside Radio
I like the size of the clock dial.
I have a GE model forgotten, 1950 clock radio in a cheap plastic marbeled case. Both dials square. Same model my parents had. I had to replace both I F transformers, and, do clock repairs. It plays well....

Re: Bedside Radio
When I get a cold or the flu, I have to get up and sit down and try to unstuff my head and clear my throat. I listen to the little unit in my avatar that I keep by the recliner. It gets KMOX, WWL, WLS, WBBM, WGN, WSAI and most of the clear channel stations on the east coast.

Re: Bedside Radio
I have a Hallicrafters Continental clock radio beside my bed.I set the timer and fall asleep to old radio shows on 900 CHML just about every night.Sometimes I'll listen to the hams (AM'ers) on 40 meters until I nod off as this radio has a shortwave band.
