Turntable flocking (fuzz) Empty Turntable flocking (fuzz)

Post by Wildcat445 Sat Feb 23, 2013 1:24 pm

Where can a person buy flocking ( the fuzzy stuff) for turntables? There surely has to be someplace I can get it. I have been making felt mats for temporary use, but would like the real thing if I can get it. I can't see paying somebody $40 or so to do it.

Thanks, guys.

I bought some at a specialty shop years ago. It was some sort of an art supply. It's a pain to put on, and, you have to totally strip turntable down to the bare metal.
It's doable, but, a pain.

I figured on putting the turntable first in my parts washer to remove the old material as much as possible, then into the media blast cabinet to take whatever is left to bare metal, then paint the turntable with two stage urethane paint, then spray interior glue onto the turntable, then glom on the fuzzy stuff. Exact procedure for this is unknown at this time, but some kind of a plastic container with the fuzz in it was my initial thought. Do you know where I can get this stuff? Surely there must be some place.

Check the wood working supply places as they use flocking when they make jewelry boxes and such. I used to have a couple of links but cant find them right now.

Turntable flocking (fuzz) Empty Where To Get Your Platter Flocked

Post by kjq45 Mon Dec 30, 2013 10:50 pm

I recently acquired a Newcomb TR-16 with a poor gray platter. I sent it to All Unique: http://all-unique.com/flocking-service-p-263.html and it came back looking like new, but better than original. They are near Sacramento and do excellent work.
