New Kutztown pickups
Really just stocked up on supplies, but I picked up this for 2 bucks at auction:
- broken dialcord, not playing, but cabinet perfect, NO cracks!
Also got this for $35 (had one as a kid, always wanted to find another) :
- also broken dialcord, but playing, no hum, perfect cabinet.
There was a nice Silvertone console with those 4 -45 outputs, asking $100, unfortunately with 3 consoles already in the house, The missus said if I bought that, I would be carrying it home on my back - and it's a long walk back to N.Y.
I only attended on Saturday, had to work Friday. Oh well, there's always the Fall show in September!

Re: New Kutztown pickups
I was at Kutztown also. Just on Friday when the weather totally sucked.
It was raining most of the day and windy as well as cold ( HEY ALGORE!! Where the HELL is the GLOBAL WARMING WHEN YOU NEED IT!!??!!)
I managed to pick up a number of parts, but didn't find any radios that screamed "TAKE ME HOME!!" I hear the weather on Saturday was much, much better and the peeps in attendance had a better time than on Friday.
Gratz on your finds there.

Re: New Kutztown pickups
I got there about 11 AM or so on Saturday. Got some supplies and a knob I was missing for my Zenith along with my auction prize. I recently finished recapping and restringing the 202. I don't know what it is about me and GE's, they always seem to kick my ass. Got it working OK, but reception was weak. Turns out that the "Beam-a-scope" loop antenna is whacked. It was separating from the back cover, and it must be shorting. Tapping the cover makes it work until I move it again. I jumpered a wavemagnet I had from a junker Universal to it and it plays nicely. Now I am looking for a new cover with antenna. Failing that, I guess I'll try the loop antenna they sell at tubesandmore.com

Kutztown is located in the Amish farm country of Pennsylvania. The radio meet is run by the Delaware Valley Historic Radio Club and is held in the spring and fall. Their website with pics from past shows : http://www.dvhrc.info/kutztown/kutztown.htm

Re: New Kutztown pickups
Just make sure that when you clean the GE that be very careful with the dial glass. The numbers were put on with cheap paint and is very easy to wipe the numbers off. Dont use anything wet on the dial.
