New project ....Emerson AR173

Emerson AR173 $15 at a yard sale. Started the repair work this morning.

Looks like a neat project Ben! Wish I could find cheap stuff around here at garage sales. There's not really anything good "left" and when it is, the garage sale seller wants something ridiculous like $50.00 for a beat-up, as-is, burnt-smelling radio

Yeah got luck with this one. Actually brought this one and the previous project (Sparton 75A) form the same person. Package deal 2 for $45. Found an RCA Victor 29K console yesterday for $50. All the parts are there. The case is a little scratched up but the chassis looks good and I hear a little music but very faint. Even has the swing out Magic Loop antenna still intact.

Good score! I really dig the Ingraham cabinet radios. Looks like its in good shape too.

Same thing in my neck of the woods,all the good stuff is gone.The two guys that lived in this area one a collector and a dealer that sold on Antique Radio Classified now passed on got it all.

Pickings are slim around here as well but every once in a blue moon I catch a one or two and jump on it quick.

The Emerson AR173 is complete. This turned out to be a very fun and easy project. Time for a new project. I have an old Hilco 38-12 that is in piece so I guess I'll start on that in the next few days. Or not.

Thanks guys. Wish I could find more like this one. It is amazing how much sellers think old radios are worth in junky, unrestored condition. Oh well, on the hunt again.
