Re: Frankenstorm!!!!!
Unfortunately, I'm in Philadelphia....
But fortunately I'm up on a hill in my neighborhood, so runoff will go downhill from my house as it usually does when it rains.
The thing that worries me is the old awnings on the house... but they're the old 50's steel-framed aluminum ones, been up since then... I suppose they'll survive.
I'll bring in the recycle bin and anything loose into the garage..of course.
Got the lawn mowed this afternoon - hopefully for the last time.
I just hope people's stuff don't suffer too much damage around here, but one never knows..
Yeah, I got my battery-powered radios and lights/candles too.
Stocked the freezer with containers of ice water - just in case.
Got food for 1.5 weeks or so..
I'm ready, BRING IT ON, SUCKA!

Re: Frankenstorm!!!!!
I hope it doesn't become all that it is being cracked up to be. Tropical storms are best when they stir things up enough to move rain to where it is needed. But nature only needs to follow a whim for some ugly weather to be generated.

Re: Frankenstorm!!!!!
North Carolina just had an earthquake but I doubt many will hear about it with so much focus on Hurricane Sandy!

Re: Frankenstorm!!!!!
Well, Sandy's past here now... on the way to oblivion somewhere...
I suffered no damage to my property, and had no power/utility issues other than a few flickering lights.
I hear NYC had a blackout though....
And my old metal awnings are still secure - they don't make 'em like that anymore.
The winds were horrendous for sure!
Not that much in rain here though.

Re: Frankenstorm!!!!!
I have had no problems here in Ruckersville and plan to check on my farm later today. It's an hour away from here. I believe everything will be OK. I hope and pray all of you who were in the path of the storm are safe.
