Tonight, I patched one of the motor wires, which was quite bare. I took out a few inches of bare wire, put in a new piece of wire, soldering it, of course, and, put heat shink tubing on the splices. It's much safer. I also re rewired tone arm. Still have to re rewire phono plug for cartridge, and, then, do amp repairs. I also still have to lubricate motor. I did some rough adjusting on on off switch on motor. I can fine tune that when I've got it playing, again.
At least we're coming along.

Great news!!!!
The RCA is again playing records!!!!!!
Motor was actually running very fast , once I got it cleanned, and, lubed. I slowed that back down.
Still have an issue with an intermittent short at the cartridge, but, elsewhere, I'm fine.
I made the speaker wires longer so I could get it to reach. I also put heat shrink tubing on the hot wire for light bulb.

I was wrong about that switch. I looked at the schematic, and, in one position it maes no connections at all..............
I cleanned switch, but, it still isn't making that much difference in bass.
Volume is very good, though.
Still not happy that as you turn the volume down the sound goes down fairly fast. However, It is still excellent, and, I dare anyone to show me another working 73 year old crystal cartridge. It is loud, and, I'm a happy camper, bass is decent, if not fantastic, and, treble IS fantastic!!
I also still have to readjust the motor on off switch. That's just a playing around type of thing....
I think when this baby is done, it will be great!
It's louder than it was when I first got it playing 35 years ago.
I'm a very happy camper!!!!
Bill Cahill Very Happy

Thanks. I just finnished adjusting the motor switch. I played several records. Is it me, or, has it actually gotten slightly louder??? Maybe the cartridge is loossenning up a little, and, allowing crystal to work better??? Im not saying it's like new. It isn't. But, the volume is so loud I'd be a fool to rebuild it.
No rumble, either.
Motor is still a slight amount fast.
This is truly a great machine. I did notice in one position on some records the bass is a little better.
I couldn't be happier.... I now have much case work to do. I replaced the missing amp screw. I had an old screw that was almost a perfect match to the other three.
I also need to replced the shot cabinet feet.
Looks like it had nail on round rubber feet.
Ther'es a slight bit of loose venner on the bottom that needs minor gluing.

Bass,, and, somewhat the volume improved greatly as I played it. To confirm it I played different records the next morning. I still say it has.
Still have a minor problem with cartridge wires in tone arm, but, everything else is now fine.
It is truly a fine machine.

Thank you. Feel like another video?? Well, here it is!
Note; As the machine played, the rubber grommets in the cartridge holding the needle chuck loossenned up a little causing two good things to happen.
1 It quit eating records.
And, 2 on louder records especially, the volume increased dramatically so I had to actually had to turn the volume control more than half way down.
Well, turn up your sound, and, click on the picture, and, enjoy....

Well, very interesting. I slightly wiggled the needle bar tonight to see if I was right. I was. Then, an hour ago I tried it again. It now has Full volume capabilities!
On most records I can turn the volume down to a third, and, hear the record easily.
This cartridge is now like new!

Why? It's working in Photo bucket. Just click on pix. It will take you to the photo at photo bucket, then, start to play. Listen to the sound. You'll be surprised.
I don't use you tube anymore.
