I have a great interest in old, especially wind up phonographs.
I think it would be neat to share some of our collection of our toyz.
Let's see what you have..... Smile

Thanks, Cliff. I only own 6 cylinder players right now, but, I love them all.
I also own 4 diamond disc machines, 1 cheap internal horn Brunswick, and, a small upright Victor Orthophonic I'm restoring.
Not all in the best shape, but, I'm trying.

Cliff, most of my cylinder players I rebuilt from junk parts.
You wouldn't believe the horrible condition of these two when I got them!

Well, let me show you my latest project.
My small upright Victor Orthophonic victrola.
It's been a project in the making.
I had just finnished ridding it of termites. Fortunately, they haven't been in it long enough to do much dammage.
I had to replace tone arm, which was toast.
I had reproducer partly rebuilt.
I have far to go. Here are pictures.

And, a special thanks to our friend Vitanola because he is supplying the correct tone arm for me... He has a complete nickel one with a non pot metal base. Thank you Vitanola for your help in truly resurecting this machine!!!

Let's see your phonograph collection....... Credenzajuly2011004
Let's see your phonograph collection....... Line-up001

1925 Credenza serial number 633, making it probably the very 1st day of production as the 1st 550 went to dealers
and had special finishes as display models. Very large and heavy set with an electric motor. Sounds wonderful too.

The only record player I have setup now is this late 50s Zenith. I was going to fix it and then sell it but after I got it playing I just couldn't sell it. My wife had a fit and wanted in the living room . Its not a real old one like some of the ones mentioned but its really a neat little unit. I picked it up and the case is all original and nice. The amp looked like it was strait from the factory. But for whatever reason the record player unit was shot. It was all rusted up even though there was not any other water damage on this unit. I really liked it but it was too far gone. A buddy who strips old stereos had this unit that worked perfect. I played it a big part yesterday. I loaded about 4 or 5 LPs and let it play. This record on the video was one I found at goodwill. I got a few original Zenith test LPs from this time. Anyway here is a video of it.

Thanks. This was the way it played at first. It played fine for a while then it got to where it would just quit playing from the cartridge. I took it apart and replaced one of the main resistors that had overheated. It still had issues of dropping out. I replaced the cord from the record player chassis to the amp and it still acted up. Then I saw it. There was a small piece of solder that had fell from desoldering. It was on the RCA input jack the cable plugged into. I flipped it off and it worked perfect. I bet I played it for 3 or 4 hours yesterday and it worked great. No issues now.
