Re: Unidentified Radio
Hi,
I recognized the boxes as having the Atwater Kent shape. I believe this is an AK model 55. Is this something you are going to restore, or??
It looks like it will need some TLC, and hope you don't have to pay much for it.
Please post back.
What do you think?

Re: Unidentified Radio
Yes, that is it exactly!
If I'm not mistaken the cabinet was stamped steel (black).
It is for sale locally and I didn't know a 55 wasn't worth a great sum.
Thank You So Much!

Re: Unidentified Radio
Happy to help. I recognized the boxes. as I restored a AK model L chassis last year.
If you can get the 55 really cheap it may be ok. It does lok like it needs a lot of cleanup, and then the electrical work. What are they asking for it? I'd say $20-$25 would be a fair price. You can have a real gem after all the work is done.
Personally, I usually don't worry about the value of a set even though we put more time into it than it's 'worth.' Bottom line is, you have saved a set from being trashed, or religated to the scrap heap. Good luck!
