Other uses for old radio tubes - Your ideas please
I have thousands of old tubes. I am selling off the good ones and the ones I have tested but SO many are very common and are just laying around. Any ideas on what they can be used for? I am sure there is someone out there that has a great idea. thanks

We can't say anything without knowing more. What are tube numbers, etc... ? As a whole, manny tubes are still common, and, have little value. There are, of course, tubes that are sought after by collectors, some very rare, and, valuable. But, we can't tell you anything on just a general question like this.

See my post "Merry Christmas."
BTW, for this year's tree I want to add amber LEDs to the tubes for a little warm glow, which will involve putting a hole in the tube base. If anyone has some bad tubes that they would like to donate to the cause, I would be happy to put them to good use. The tubes that I used for last year's tree are all NOS and retail for about $25, so I don't want to destroy anything that is valuble or still usable.

I suggest wiring several dozen of them up in series/parallel for a shop heater.woodcutter1979 wrote:I have thousands of old tubes. You wouldn't need tube sockets. Just drill holes in some smooth HardiPlank or similar non burning non conductive board, and solder leads to the heater pins.

You may want to post your location in case anyone is interested in them. You may have a member close by that would be interested in them.
