Hi All,
Picked up a very nice Crosley 57TL the other day. Someone had painted it with a brush. Anyone know of a good paint striper for Bakelte and plastic. Thanks Jim

Hi. Sorry for the late reply, but, I've used Zip strip. There also used to be a product advertised on tv that is supposed to remove everything, including paint, but, I don't remember what it was, and, the ad hasn't been on for some time.
Did you ever get it stripped??
May we see pictures?

You should probably use caution when using any stripper on plastic. Bakelite should be impervious to strippers, but some strippers can react unfavorably to plastic. Most radios that have been painted after they left the factory, are not properly prepped, and the paint is put on over contaminants. It will come off fairly easily. Read the label on the stripper container to find out if the stripper is compatible with plastic. Good luck.
