A cheap source for rubber spacers
A cheap source for rubber spacers
I have posted this on other forums,
but I'll post it here as well. Frequently on older wooden sets of the 1930s they used either springs or rubber spacers to cushion /dampen vibrations to the radio's chassis. There are a number of sources that make replica rubber spacers, but a cheaper alternative and one you can use in a pinch is to go to your local hardware store and get some foam rubber pipe insulation. It comes in various diameters and is easily cut with scissors or a razor blade.
An idea would be to cut the rubber to the size you need , make sure it fits in the routered out hole for it on the baseboard of the cabinet, once you get it to size and shape you could use it just as is, or maybe wrap a layer of the painters masking tape around the outside to make it look more like the color of the original spacers. Just a suggestion is all.
