Re: Forum Moderation
I don't think you really need any moderator.
I would wait and see how things go before you start moderating.
Over moderating can ruin a good forum.

Re: Forum Moderation
If you do go to moderators, I think you should ask that they not be mods on
any other radio forum. That should help avoid importing pre-existing conflict.

In My Humble Opinion:
Please review The below list, it should be considered to be included as policy and /or rules:
Rules are still needed and should be in-place BEFORE any conflicts of decorum arise.
(some of it has already been addressed)
1. No foul language, and use of swearing, even expletives.
2. No personal attack(s), arguments that belittle.
3a. (arguments that go to the point of) nitpick or innuendo's to, other posters. Providing accurate information is a must and at all and times and must be supportive of the subject matter and must be supported when opinions differ.
3. No copyrighted material allowed, unless Authors permission is obtained and provided for upon request.
(exceptions should be allowed when partial quoting of a news articles or materials when done for educational enlightenment)
4. Humor is OK, if its clean and doesn't degredate or humiliate.
5. As this is about electronics, Forbidden are Politics, as well as religion. There are vast quantities of those subjects on the web via blogs and other forums. You can always redirect those interested in your ideas on those subjects, to an outside forum.
6. Personal opinions are allowed if they add to knowledge or inform, but don't humiliate. If some one is offended and It is brought to the Administrators or Moderators attention, it will need to be explained by the offended if it isn't obvious, not just stated that it was offensive , also to be equally fair to the poster, the the poster will have an opportunity to explain the offence. If it is repeated more than twice in a predetermined time length, or blatant then that poster (or even the complainer) will be removed.
------------------------------------------------------
It is to be understood that Most posters are genuine in their interest to gain knowledge and impart that wisdom to others, gratis free. It is also to be understood that there are many different levels of knowledge and it should be considered in all conversation.
-----------------------------
Thank you for bringing this up.

All the other stuff is 100% rite on the money. Each forum needs its own moderator!

I agree with all of your points except this one.
If you are not going to allow any mention of politics or religion, then you are making the name of this section (Unlimited Discussion) an oxymoron; it then becomes Limited discussion.
I feel politics and/or religion can be brought up, provided it is done so in a civil manner, forbidding personal attacks of one member upon another.
Forbidding any mention of these subjects will make this forum just like the Alternative Radio Forum.
But this isn't my forum, I just pop in from time to time. I allow such discussions on the Philco Phorum, and (knocking wood) it has been done so in a very civil manner, with no flaming.
One man's opinion.
That's all.

Re: Forum Moderation
I don't care what you discuss as long as it's civil... UN-limited discussion is for UN-limited discussion... as long as folks don't loose it, i'm okay with it....
I haven't had any problem's yet, and lets sort of try to keep it this way... but for the most part anything goes....
Robert

Re: Forum Moderation
Some where in the Administration you have access to a word editor that will take words and change them to what you want.
Like the word sh*t can be edited to "crap" or "poo poo", whatever the Administrator chooses.
One my favorites on a political board is ICE PRINCESS for the word
Hillary,
Senator Clinton,
Mrs. Clinton,
Hillary Rodham Clinton.
It is pretty funny to read some of the quotes with the "substitution".
This is a phb forum, so I know you can do this if you choose to.

Re: Forum Moderation
Yep, It's already done so people will not be "offended" I couldn't care the least.
So you cant ******* swear
THATS THE BEST! It's so tempting to replace tube or radio or somthing with a rediclous word, but i'll hold off on that
see ya'll later,
Robert
