CHRISTMAS WISH

Post by VANT on Sat Dec 12, 2009 6:30 pm

I know of a nice 12 tube shutter dial Zenith with a 6t5 eye-tube for sale in case anyone has not gotten me anything yet for Christmas. Or I will also accept small donations from all the forum members! LOL Oh well, it was just a thought...
Anyway MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone and I hope Santa brings you the radio of your dreams.

What's my present this year? I'd like a Zenith 12 tube Walton to replace my original......
Oh, well, Merry Christmas back.

I wish Santa would bring me a Majestic 300-A. I just love those radios, but have never seen one for sale except one in CA this year. And at nearly a grand, without shipping, is out of reach for me.
The weather in the Poconos has been snowy (we have about 15-18" on the ground) and it's been in the low teens to single digits every night for the last week or two. A heat wave is due today; it's supposed to be 41!

Hey Bill,
You mean you had a Walton and got rid of it? I would like to hear that story.

No. My mother did..
I was a teenager.
A teacher gave it to me. It was mint, and, still working, She had it stored in a bedroom closet.
I had it downstairs. I was playing it.
Mom didn't like me to have my old stuff upstairs.
One winter day we had a major flood in the basement. One of many.
The radio was completely immersed in sewage water.
When water went down we were ordered to throw everything in the basement out..
I argued with mom to no avail.
The radio hit the junk pile in the dumpster.
I cried for a week.
I even loved that radio then. That was before the Waltons were even on tv.I live in St. Petersburg, Florida. I can't afford the high price they are going for. I'd trade for one, even in rough retrorable shape.

Last night was 4 deg. F. (That's -16 C) Tonight is supposed to be 9. They're calling for 14-20" of additional snow here starting Saturday and ending Sunday. The extended forecast shows lows from the mid teens to single digits every night and highs in the 20's.
I may come hide in one of your closets, Bill. Better yet, I'll hide in your nice warm workshop- You'll never find me until you finally clean it. Smile
