ARF down again?

Post by terrydec on Tue Oct 26, 2010 12:09 pm

Since yesterday I get a "Critical error" when trying to access ARF. Is the problem mine or Alan's?

Seems like it, got this at 12:30 edst...

I'm holding off posting to ARF classified until it has run stable for at least another 4 weeks.
Besides, not much prepared to go anyway.

Oh, well...

I'll hang here for a few days...

Looks like this ARF server is no better than the one they used a couple years' ago. That one was down a lot too.

I got in a few minutes ago.
Hummm!

I guess there are still some bugs to be worked out.

Thanks again Bill. I left several "thank you's" back home.

I'm surprised we haven't heard from Alan. Could it be something on his end and not the server? I admit I'm not that computer savvy, so I'm just guessing here.

He's been trying to get things up and running by using backup data, and probably has to take it off line to accomplish. This would include the pictures section. From what I read. It will have some glitches to be worked out. Very Happy

It's off-line right now, again. I've been getting lots of errors since this "new" server went on-line.

Oops i posted this in ARF off line again. Can someone please explain to me why the ARF site has so many problems. I really do like the site but it has gotten really silly. I know of no other site that has had the problems like this site. Maybe all the ARF people should leave there and join the TRF. Gets really frustrating when you are looking for answers to a technical question.Never seen any problems here

I agree. There's no excuse for all the technical problems going on over there. It seems to be getting worse day by day. It's very frustrating. I belong to about 9 forums for 10 years now and have never experienced these kinds of problems. What's doubley frustrating is that there is no feedback from the owner. Even a simple "We're working on it." would be nice but nothing.

Lets don't be so hard on Alvo. I'm sure its a PITA for him more than us. I too would like the comfort of an explanation about all this 'new server' stuff that has been heavily contributed to monetarily by the members, one of which is no longer with us. Just a word, just an acknowledgment of donations would be a good start.

If we need to pony up for something then ok but we just bought a new server a couple of years ago and I think one a few years before that.

Seems to me, what little I know, is that the cheapo server co-location deals are what keeps going bad and every move creates problems. Ya gotta pay the bill to get onto a good serving site!
