AK 1 tube radio

Post by ddelby82128 on Wed Oct 13, 2010 9:16 am

At a local Minnesota auction a 1 tube AK was sold. The auctioneer called me as the first bidder did not pay for or pickup the radio. The auctioneer asked if I could sell it for him on eBay and I said I could. The auctioneer thinks it is worth $400 and that is what they want for it. Any one here want it? I can send photo to your email address. Respond to deltysdal@aol.com

Hi, is that the one that was shown on ARF about a week ago? If so, no way for $400. IIRC, it was a fairly crude homebrew that just so happened to use an A-K variometer and 1-tube island.

Neat gizmo but I think people were saying 300 tops and even I thought that was a bit much.

Frankly Del, I think anyone buying it might have an eye towards re-selling the two A-K components individually. I don't necessarily support that idea but in reality that limits what some homebrew sets are worth.

Thanks. I will tell the auctioneer. But it seems so great to have a set that is as originally made and as it was when put on a shelf 80 years ago.
