Crosley 179

Post by Stan Ski on Tue Oct 12, 2010 6:03 pm

Finally got this beautiful radio all done. Or so i thought. Installed the chassis in the cabinet and sat down to enjoy the fruits of my labor with a cold one.I probably did the chassis about a year ago or so (New caps and all that stuff). Hey, Time goes fast when your having fun. Problem is the radio sounds great at low volume (1/2 turn). If i turn further then this it gets all distorted but does not go to full volume. I am thinking the volume control (pot) is bad. What do you guys think?

I tend to agree with sprman.
Any amplifier can become distorted if the power to it isn't up to correct specs. It could be in the power supply. Distortion is understandable when it wasn't designed to operate at lower than optimum voltage
