I have just learned the following:

There are programs on the Web that are Vicious to the point of disabling your Hard Drive so it is no longer usable. One of the program types are click and test your IQ. Or take a quiz.

Another type that is called ransom ware (under various pseudo names) explores your computer without your consent. It looks for any program that is peer to peer and if it finds none it makes a false report that it has found some anyway. They demand an Immediate payment and if none is fourth coming the will issue a subopena. (all they are trying to do is get your credit card number and/ other personal data.)
