Re: Rider's Manuals Downloads in PDF
This is what the web page looks like. Very simple I went there this morning and it does download.
however remember, if you have a slow connection speed it will take considerable TIME. It took me over 3 hours to download at 80+k/bps for each file.

Rider's Radio Service Manuals
In PDF Format
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's some material which may be of value to old radio enthusiasts like me.
Hmmm, maybe I should rephrase that as "of value to enthusiasts of old radio" as I don't consider myself that old yet!
There are other sites on the Internet which have this material, but I thought that another site mirroring these venerable manuals might prove helpful if the other sites become unavailable for some reason.
I hope that the manuals prove useful to you, and feel free to contact me at mcquiggi@sfu.ca if you have any comments or other requests, or even have more material which might be helpful on this site.
Note that I am not into fancy HTML coding, rather I would prefer to keep things simple and just make the material available in an efficient manner.
Should there be any copyright issues with these ancient manuals, please let me know! I cannot imagine that these old manuals, which deal with obsolete electronic equipment, would have any monetary value to anybody!

Note that these are BIG files, from 40-100 MB, and will therefore take a bit of time to download.

Re: Rider's Manuals Downloads in PDF
Here is a tip I keep forgetting to post. It is "an extremely useful (and free) item that all radio restorers should have. It is Scott Harvey's Universal Schematic Locator for Rider, Beitman and Sams. Scott's program makes it easy to search for a schematic with even partial information, such a partial model number or partial chassis number."
Scroll down the following page until you find it:

Re: Rider's Manuals Downloads in PDF
I've got all of the Rider and Beitman manuals, but don't have any of the Sams. Is there a free site out there where all of the Sams manuals can be downloaded? Also, about a year ago I downloaded an entire 1940s NRI technician course from a website that is no longer available... does anyone know of another site that has the NRI courses? It's extemely useful for both beginers and pros alike.

I don't believe there are any free downlods for sams, but, you can buy individual schematics to download for 7 dollars each from Sam's.

Re: Rider's Manuals Downloads in PDF
I've never checked out any of the Sams manuals so I don't know if they have anything more to offer than Riders or Beitmans. So far the free manuals have told me everthing that I need to know, and they fit the budget a little bit better. It seems like after all these years, someone would have posted some of the Sams stuff... stupid copywrite laws.

Re: Rider's Manuals Downloads in PDF
Sam's tends to be interested in maintaining their copyrights since they have put a lot of work into the data. Rider/Beitman simply republished diagrams furnished by the factory whereas Sams generally obtained an actual radio (or TV), broke it down and took chassis photos and re-drew the schematic to a standard configuration.
There's minimal era-overlap with Rider (~early 1950s) and Beitman has always been on the thin side anyway. After the 50s Sam's is the best source for most anything.
