RADIO PLAYS GOOD THEN GETS QUIT

Philco model 111 . All new caps resistors , checked antenna coils ,good .
Plays good for awhile then quits receveing . Sometimes it makes a pop sound through speaker plays good for awhile then quits.
Any body run upon this before.

Check the tube pins and sockets.Check and clean the band switch if it has one they can cause all kinds of troubles.Recap the set if you have not done that.See if you can find any bad solder joints .Sprman : )

what kind of band switch

Iwas leaning on the band switch to. It is like a reagular toggle switch on top underneath has little stacked card board peaces
Three prong connection . Every thing else checks out .

First try cleaning it several times.Look at it closely to make sure contacts are making full contact.Iwould replace it with the same kind from a junker set ect,if it is indeed bad.You may have to clean it 3 or 4 times and work back and forth to get it clean.Sprman : )

No oil !Try alcohol to clean it .Oil will short it out.Any spray contact cleaner will work too.Sprman : )

Found out carb cleaner work great fast drying to. Just about dries as fast as you clean it.

Caution with carb cleaner as it melts plastics.
You might also look for intermittent resistor as heating up over time it will crack open so look for both hairline cracks and poor solder joints.
