Welcome to TRF I have that model There's a lot of bad rubber wiring in that set, but, worth saving. The push button tunning is touch to adjust. It must be in the cabinet for those critical adjustments. Length of wiere in antenna circuits is critical. But, this set really rocks the house with bass. Even my windows rattled. Great playing set.
Bill Cahill Say. Was your grandfather Polish, by any chance? Mine was. I stupidly threw out my grandfather's set when someone stole the speaker The one I have now is an exact replacement for it. Model J-805 isn't the best on reception, but, the amplifier is great...

Hello Mr. Cahill,  No Sir, England and Holland. I've started the tear down and have already found several of the missing knobs and trim thanks to the links posted on this site.  Cabinet refinish also in progress. Set is in really good shape.  The speaker is busted.  Any idea on the cost to rebuild or should I replace?

The best place i've found so far to rebuild speakers has been [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] They can fix whatever is wrong with your's whether it's the speaker cone, voice coil or even the field coil on the back of the speaker. Contact them and see what they say. That's a nice radio and worth getting back in working order.

Sorry. You're right. A lot of damage. Looks like voice coil is also damaged. Looks like someone kicked it in. New grill cloth is sold as repro for antique radios. Not sure if this pattern is made, or, not.
