VU meter project

Post by terrydec on Mon Jun 04, 2018 2:27 am

About two weeks ago, my friend, who has a recording studio on a boat, asked me to build a box with VU meters.  I tried to use a wooden box, but couldn't get get one with thin sides.  I wound up with a regular ABS black plastic project box.  The VU meters are very small, only 1 1/2".  I tried to sell him on large meters, but he said that they looked like IKEA stuff.  These are kind of cute.   I need to show the finished box to the guys at the hardware store.  I don't think they thought it would work.  Anyway, here is my latest project-

I've been up all night editing my first video.  This is a VERY rough cut.  I'm still getting use to this editing software.  Let me know what you think.

Great job, Terry. I like the way you switched from one scene to another. Looks good. Wish I could hear the sound, but, my stereo amp committed suicide.

VU meters

Post by Dan Walker on Mon Jun 04, 2018 10:45 am

Terry, the video was good ,nut I think you need more light coming in from the sides. A lot of the shots seem to be quite dark.
You asked for feedback, so here it is .

Already done.  A new light kit is on it's way.  This is a VERY rough cut, because I'm still learning how to use the editing software.

Thanks for your feedback. Now go to Amazon and buy the book. Smile

This marks a change for me. All of my previous videos used static photos. This is my first foray into the world of video. I am using a JVC hard disk recorder. Now I want to produce videos and post them on my podcast site. I have some great ideas, so we'll see.

I don't think he understands that there are standards for Vu meters, and that those small meters do not meet those standards and are therefore not Vu meters. They are just meters with a Vu scale.
