One speaker not working on Crosley radio

Post by homesteader824 on Sat Nov 11, 2017 10:27 pm

I have a modern (maybe 20 years old now) Crosley radio with AM/FM/CD stereo. It has an auxiliary input. I recently acquired a Realistic DX-160 and didn't yet have an external speaker for it, so I ran its speaker output (8w if I remember right) into one channel of the Crosley's aux. input. I didn't think 8 watts was a lot, but one of the two speakers on the Crosley quit working soon after I did this. Did I blow out a speaker and need to replace it, or is the damage to something in the audio circuit? I'm capable of replacing a speaker, but troubleshooting a modern circuit board is beyond me.

Thanks for any help. I'm new to this forum and hoping I posted this in the right place.

The speaker doesn't connect to the audio in. It would go to an auxilery speaker output, or, to speaker connection wires. Do not leave original connected, as that would change reisistance values down, and, do damage.
