Post by Dan Walker on Mon Oct 09, 2017 11:04 am

I just picked up 17 volumes of Riders for $25.00
Now I have to make room for them in my garage

That's cool. Nothing like that comes up for sale around here. Great find!

Excellent find. I paid 200 back in the 80s for 19 of them, 1-20, missing 15. Back then you couldn't find them and if you did you couldn't touch them for less than 10 bucks each. I found volume 15 a few years later and it cost me about 30 bucks for the book and shipping. I would love to find the last 3. Even though they have went down in price that is a great price.

I still like my printed copies of Rider, even though I have scans from two sources on my HD. The scans are often not entirely satisfactory. For all of my sets I have taken the Rider pages and enlarged them about 150% by photocopying them onto ledger paper (11x17").

I have some Beitman volumes, as well as some Red Books and other volumes. I am a lifelong bibliophile.

Rider volumes 3-14 are on the top shelf where they are hard to photograph. I collect mainly pre-WWII sets so that limits the range of manuals that I need.

You might like this program, plug in the radio info and it tells you which manual to look in and the page. Saves wear and tear searching thru the books.

There is also the Universal Schematic Locator, a Windows program (I have run it under XP and 7) which indexes Rider, Beitman, and Sams.

The author's site disappeared some time ago but you can download it from my site:
