New Member from Brisbane, California

Post by Boin106 on Sat Mar 11, 2017 11:52 pm

Hello everyone,
I am a brand new member.  Thank you for accepting me.  I am writing because I just inherited an old radio.  It even has the original paperwork.  It is an Atwater Kent Model 72 Super-Heterodyne Receiver.  It says it has a Type H chassis on the cover of the instruction book.  I am in no way a radio collector or enthusiast.  However, I would like to find out more about this radio, just out of curiosity.  It belonged to my aunt who was the original owner.  My dad inherited it when my aunt passed away.  It has been sitting in his garage for many, many years.  It does not operate.  I plan to restore the receiver and the cabinet.  Any info is greatly appreciated.  Tnx, Matt

Welcome Matt!

Came to the right place, you can gather a lot of info from years of experience with the guys on here. Most projects start with getting a schematic, gathering all the i fo you can on ur model. You can do a search of this forum and others and find hours of reading of others work. You will want to put in new capacitiors first.

You can find the schematic here.

Welcome Matt.

I am a new member here. I just finished getting an old radio going that had been hanging around for several years. Guys on here can help you. I'm just learning myself, and I sure wish you well.

Welcome to TRF. Please don't plug it in again, until it's restored.
Glad you came, all newbies.
