Leaving ...

Post by John Bartley on Mon Feb 13, 2017 8:37 am

.... for Cuba for a few days.  I like winter. I have a snowmobile and I like to get out and go for a ride on it and do a little bit of ice fishing on nice days, but as I age I find that I also like to have a summer break in the middle of winter.

We went to Varadero a couple of years ago and had a completely fantastic time!   We wandered up and down the tourist strip, sat on the beach, sat in the pool, ate and dank and laughed and swam and watched evening shows. This time we're headed for Cayo Coco. I can't wait!!!

Here's our 2014 trip : http://s169.photobucket.com/user/JohnBartley/library/Travel/Cuba%20-%20April%202014?sort=2&page=1

Good luck on your trip. Be very careful. Warning.
My church priest is a professional skier, and was on his second day of vacation on a major accident. A new sioer slammed right into him, and, sent him spinning on the slope, and, slamming into a tree. He has a broken collar bone, a smashed shoulder and, broken ribs. He decided to quit sking for the rest of his life here.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your concern. I'm pretty much past those wild days, and the worst I get up to now is a bit of hill climbing on my snowmobile .... and even that happens at much slower speed than it used to.

I think the biggest danger I'll face on my holiday is getting a sunburn from falling asleep in my chair on the beach Smile

cheers

It sounds like fun and I hope you have a great time. If you want to share your experience with us when you get back, that would be great. I've never been to Cuba but hear it's beautiful there and packed with culture.

I'd also like to see pictures. I hear, also, how beautiful Cuba is.

Hi Bill,

I've only been twice, once in 2014 and again in 2017. Here are links to the photos :

2014 : Varadero : http://s169.photobucket.com/user/JohnBartley/library/Travel/Cuba%20-%20April%202014

2017 : Cayo Coco : http://s169.photobucket.com/user/JohnBartley/library/Travel/Cuba%20-%20February%202017

I had planned to go in between those dates, but a little tussle with cancer got in the way .... it won't get in the way again. I'm going back even if I have to book an airplane seat for my ashes .... Smile

cheers
