Please help me ID this radio

Post by radio-active on Fri Jan 27, 2017 12:59 pm

I've been trying to ID this radio for years. It's in a picture I found of my dad during WWII.

Please let me know if you recognize the set.

Thanks

Looks like Airline, Bendix Emerson, or, silvertone.
Silvertone used long model numbers.
Airline used two nmbers, a dash, and, the rest of the numbers.
Not sure about Bendix.

Can you give any model numbers? Is this a radio you own, or, hope to own?

I was under the impression he only has the picture of his father with the radio and wants to ID the radio from the picture alone.

Unless you have one, that's kind of hard to do.
I don't have a radio like that. I like the style of the cabinet.
Looks most like an Airline.

That's right Greg. I'm hoping someone will recognize the radio and tell me what the make & model is.

I have been looking through some of my books for possible pics of this radio but have not found anything that gets close. When I look at that picture it screams ivory plaskon to me, but what do I know. Its a black and white picture so it could be yellow. It could be any brand or unknown at this point. It does has some Belmont, Airline,Truetone,Emerson looks to it as well as others.Only time will tell.

The Radio attic website is a good resource for looking up radio's in its archive section. Be prepared though as there are hundreds of pictures of radio's to match up.
