New website

Post by terrydec on Sun Jan 08, 2017 6:15 pm

My Christmas present to myself was a new website.  On it I've posted photos of radio restorations, collections, essays and my three detective stories.  These are good if you are stuck in the bathroom with your computer.

I'm with Godaddy. They make it pretty easy. I pay $15 a year for the domain name and $5 a month for the hosting. And trust me, they're support team has a LOT of patience. You should do it.

Godaddy is pretty good for just getting up and running. It's kind of limited but it's a start.

I just checked my stats. Over 250 hits so far this month. Half came from this site. Thanks.

I just finished a new detective story. I'll post it after my editor goes over it for errors. I think it's my best effort yet.

Ya got me. I threw my Kindle away. I also turned down a free smart phone with free minutes. I think I peaked in 2008. I haven't updated anything since then. However when I did have a Kindle I pulled and dropped the files into Quickword.

Re: New website

Good news.  I have written three more stories.  I haven't posted them yet because they have not been vetted by my editorial crew.  I have a proof reader and an editor and they are out of town.  I haven't  received a lot of feedback on these stories.  Not even negative.  My nephew said they read like a graphic novel.  I took it as a compliment. These new stories contain all the intrigue, murder and surprises my readers have come to expect.

Note:  This preview has been rated PU--Pretty Ugly.  Remember that all my stories, plus some other neat stuff, can be seen on my website.

Is it still around?  I've been searching for magazines and can't find any.  I've decided that when I have 10 stories completely vetted, (That seems to be the new buzz word.  It means evaluated), I'm going after a publisher.  There is this book called "Writer's Market" with literally thousands of publishers.  I did find the perfect one, but they had gone out of business.

BTW- I'm not doing this for any money or recognition...I'm doing it because I have all of these ideas and can't stop.  It would be nice if they bring a little enjoyment to people, but that's not my main reason.

Also, I miss my dog and have a lot of extra time on my hands.

P.S. I just started a new story- "Murder on the Water". It's a real closed room puzzle. It takes place on a sailboat. How could somebody be murdered on a boat with no one around? The answer will surprise even me because I don't have it yet. Smile

Yes it celebrated 75 years last year. I subscribe to it because I like the stories in them. Your stories remind me of what they feature.

Can I pay you to send me a copy? I'd like to see what they print before I contact them.

Wow! That was fast.  Of course you're just down the river.
I REALLY appreciate the magazine.  I'm not sure my stuff would fit in.  These stories have a lot of description, which I avoid.  And they are a lot longer, (At 8 cents a word I can see why).  I'd rather strip the story to the bare bones and concentrate on dialogue and action.  More like Dashell Hammet.  One person said my stories read like a graphic novel.  Someone else said they read like radio plays.  I just want them to get read.
