Mecca 855 radio/8 track player

Post by tuberadiogeek on Mon Dec 12, 2016 6:42 pm

I've had this radio almost a year, but just got around to setting it up. It's quite a radio at least on FM. I only have some wire in the design of a dipole. Maybe 2 feet on either side. I've been pulling in all sorts of stations in from around Ohio and Indiana. The furthest away north I've pulled in is out of Defiance Ohio and furthest south is Greenville Ohio. I have screenshots of all the stations and audio clips too. I was going to add photos of the radio, but apparently they are too large from my phone.

That's kind of like some of my old radios I have they are super sensitive and pull in quite a few stations from afar, I live in Indiana the next state over from you to the west and I have been able to pull in stations on my radios from Fort Wayne like WBCL which is a Christian Music Station there (I'm sure you're somewhat familiar with that station as they do have some stations over in NW Ohio as well where you're from), I've pulled in the NPR/Classical station from Grand Rapids, Michigan which is at 90.5 FM (this was on a nice clear sunny day), I have been able to pick up an NPR/Classical Station from Indianapolis, Indiana which is about 3 hours south of where I live and I have even once picked up for about 3 days or so a Southern Gospel Station from Winston-Salem, North Carolina on an old Radio I once had. With most modern stereo equipment these days you'd be lucky to pull in a couple of strong local stations and that's it. Its kind of sad how much they've crapped out on making stereos these days when not even 30 years ago they still made pretty decent stereos yet.
