Even if it were true, first I don't believe having your door handle slightly rsised will prevent your lock mechanisim from latching because it's not enough to open the door. Second, What would people do if your car had the type of latch the requires you to pull up on or press a button to open? As you can't shove a coin in those latches.

My vehicles have a system where you have to press twice to unlock both doors. It wouldn't work regardless.

My 2015 Civic works same way you have to press the unlock button on your remote twice to unlock all doors. I tried inserting a coin in the handle, and it does not keep the doors from locking. I guess all makes of cars use a locking system that works about the same way.
