Panasonic Radio Off-On Switch

Post by Jerry R. on Sun Nov 08, 2015 9:55 pm

I have an AC-DC Panasonic portable radio, Model RF596 that needs an Off-On-Batt switch. The number on the switch is RSS124YA-G. Does anyone know where I can purchase this switch?

Thanks,
Jerry

Unless that particular radio holds sentimental value for you, it would be about as cost effective to go for a similar replacement.

If this isn't some specialized or odd made switch can you use a dpdt of similar size? If it has some odd mounting case on it I have had luck with taking the parts/contacts and putting it into another switch frame. I am of the same mindset of 75x11 in trying a similar replacement. Only other option is looking for a donor radio or keep an eye open on ebay. I have a easier time finding parts that will work for 1930s radios than stuff made in the last 5 to 10 years. So I am guessing this radio will be hard to find parts for as well.

Make a bookmark with the manufacturer and model number for searches on Ebay.

Thanks to all who replied. I picked the radio up at a bazaar sale so I have no emotional attachment for it. I figured it would be difficult to find the part. I'm going to see if I can squirt some contact cleaner inside the case to fix the intermittent switch.

For a switch, Isopropyl alcohol works pretty well. If the contacts are silver plated as many japanese switches were, alcohol cleans the tarnish.
