Sandra "Sandy" Warner

Post by Wildcat445 on Sun Aug 30, 2015 8:39 pm

In the stack of donation records, I found this gem. "Steve Allen Presents Fair & Warner", in mono, on TOPS records. TOPS records was really less than a "B" label, typically found at the checkout stand in the drug store or grocery store. They would occasionally actually feature an artist that is more widely known. Apparently Sandy Warner was quite the looker in her day. A "siren" I believe would have been the correct terminology. She was a pretty competent singer, sounding much like Julie London. Steve Allen recorded for Liberty records, and I am a bit surprised that this album is not on a more well-known label.

I'm going to have to check that donation stack very carefully. Somebody may have done some sorting without my knowledge.

Great find WC. I'm still sticking with the Seekers and Judith Durham as my favorite group. I have no records from that era and selling my last radio with a record changer. No need to find one. I hope you can attach a link to Sandy's singing.

If I can't find a link, I can make a CD and mail it to you.

Thanks WC, I was listening to Judith and the Seekers, just brings tears to my eyes, not much music does that to me. Thank heaven for the internet!

Forgive me for invading your conversation here, but, one of my favorites was on an EP 45 record. "Genevieve sings hits from 'can can' ".

She was French, and, even though the record says she was already a hit in Paris, owner of her own place, it is the only record I've found by her. She was good looking, and, had a very nice voice.........

Try this, Jerry.  Try "In The Afternoon."  Or "But I Don't Have Him."

This is the exact record I have, only mine is mono.  This is the first stereo TOPS record I have seen.  All the ones I have are mono.
