Windows 10

Post by 75X11 on Mon Aug 24, 2015 3:01 pm

Got the free upgrade for my PC and tried to get it on the laptop and found it wasn't set up for updates. It took a full day to get the updates all on it before I could get the upgrade. It didn't amount to a life changing event. I accomplished more mowing the lawn Saturday. Very Happy

Our local computer guru recommended that I use Windows 7 as long as I can. He thinks there is little improvement between 7 and 10. Both are better than 8 in his opinion. I'm going to wait until others upgrade successfully before I do it.

Well, I've done it twice. You just need to set some time aside to do it when you decide to.

If the new version is worse, is it still called an upgrade?

Probably a 20 page thread on ARF, love it or hate it. I will stick with 7 as 10 does not support or does the manufacture of my video driver. I just do not need more headaches!
Bill, be happy they are not offering it to you as you may try to install it. You are young, perhaps you can figure out how to solve the problems! Shocked
I don't wish to!

Well, I was sticking with XP early last year. Ihen they dropped support for it. I bought a new PC and laptop with 7. I like that better than XP. I don't want to go through being pinched off of an operating system after being offered a new one for free. I'll let you know when or if any problems appear.

One of my computers was deemed eligible for the upgrade. I clicked OK, letting it get started. I checked in 5 days later and saw that the upgrade had failed, ostensibly based on corrupted file download. It hasn't made a second attempt to upgrade yet.
