Do you know if the radio is tube or SS? Approximate year? I will look in Beitmans and Riders.

It's an AM/FM Clock tube radio which looks to be late 60's

I did not find anything in Riders nor Beitman's. My information only goes up to about 1966 in fairness. Sorry I could not help you.

I reckon you will be looking for a sams photofact. I would go to the providers and make your first filter the date of production. I've looked at a couple of sources, they don't go current enough.

This radio may have been a late, Japanese built Admiral. I have a Magnavox radio like that, and Sams never printed a schematic for it. I had to punt when I repaired mine. Good luck, Mez.

Looks like chassis 6M4 / 6M4A would be close enough. Chassis layout (physical) is different, but same tubes and function switch.

In my Beitmans 1967-1969 folder on my computer.

Reference model:
YH601
YH607
YH611
YH619
YHC621
YHC627
YHC631
YHC641
YHC649

The "C" in the model should designate clock radio and those use the "A" suffix chassis number.

I make no guarantees, going off some quick research and my gut. Smile

That may work, the main problem is knowing the original filter cap. values. This radio has been butchered in the past and he wants to bring it back to normal. I'm going to try and get him to join this forum too!

For what it may be worth, I have two Admiral sets about the same vintage as the one in question. The first one is a model Y-3593, chassis 6A4N. It has six tubes, all Hitachi branded. It has a three section filter electrolytic can with three 60uf @150 volt caps. What will you bet that this radio was built by Hitachi for Admiral? Good radio, though.

The second set is another AM-FM set, six tubes, same lineup as the first set. All Admiral branded tubes, made in Japan (Hitachi?). Model number is YH-607, chassis 6M4. It has a two section electrolytic filter cap can with 60uf @ 150 volt caps in it. This radio says made in the USA, so may be a tad bit older than the first one. These are good performers for only six tubes. This radio has dual speakers.

I hope this helps if you can't find service literature anywhere else. My belief is that you would likely be pretty close if you replaced the caps in your friend's radio with something like these have if you need to take a stab in the dark. Good luck.
