At least the good ones are. The government banned all vintage cartoons.....

You can get them from Amazon.com, but, they are expensive. Very pricey..........

Saturday cartoons are a thing of the past because they don't need a specific time slot any more. When there were only three broadcast networks you needed a time slot devoted to kids. Now kids have numerous channels that hit even more specific demographics, and run 24 x 7. Even us older kids are represented... Adult Swim (a late night service of Cartoon Network) runs stuff I enjoy, especially Robot Chicken.

Yes, I fondly remember the old ritual of getting up early on Saturday and Sunday to get my fix of Flintstones, Rocky & Bullwinkle, and others. But now that sort of thing shows up on RetroTV occasionally, and other channels too.

And of course now there are cartoon shows for infants and toddlers that would never have made it on network TV. My little niece and nephews love them.

The cartoons I watched back in the day would be totally politically incorrect by today's standards. My thinking is that is why they are not seen anymore. Nobody would sponsor a show with Popeye or Merry Melodies cartoons. There would be picketers in front of their business before the cartoon was over.

And some I never found interesting:
Grape Ape
Atom Ant

Space Ghost
Around the World in 80 Days
Huckleberry Hound
George of the Jungle
Deputy Dawg
Mr Magoo
Top Cat
Yogi Bear and Friends

I wouldn't say I hated them. Just didn't like them well enough to tune in. Most likely they came on at the same time as something I liked more.

This little tidbit from Wikipedia
Billie Thomas first appeared in the 1934 Our Gang shorts For Pete's Sake!, The First Round-Up, and Washee Ironee as a background player. The "Buckwheat" character was a female at this time, portrayed by Our Gang kid Matthew "Stymie" Beard's younger sister Carlena in For Pete's Sake!, and by Willie Mae Walton in three other shorts.

So the answer is a trivial BOTH Just so you Know. Sleep

Dang, you guys are just getting back to stuff I can barely remember and probably never watched.
My trivia question if I may add to this thread:
Who was the commercial manufacture of the earliest Liquid Scintillation Counter for detecting primarily weak beta emitters like Tritium and Carbon 14?  No fair googling.

Jerry,  I won't cheat.  I don't know.  RIF, I checked back on IMDB to see the production credits on "For Pete's Sake" and Carlena Beard was listed as "Carolina" And Billie Thomas also appeared in that film.

75, I know you would not cheat! Just trying to guide the trivia thread to something more electronics. I guess no one knows? Hum, what a bunch of electronics wimps. Well, it is not radio related. Smile Smile

Sorry Bill. Crying or Very sad Heck, you are younger than me! Just testing the group on electronics from around 1960 or so. Was it "scintillation" (light producing)? The other words were relatively short. Wink
