Grady Martin

This is only my opinion, but I think that Grady Martin was the best guitar player, I ever heard.
You didn't hear much about him as he was a sideman, but he played lead guitar for so many artists. You may have like the guitar playing but never knew who it was.
Here are some of the artists who's records he played on
Patsy Cline
Hank Locklin
Buddy Holly
Johnny Horton
Brenda Lee
Roy Orbison [Pretty Woman
Hank Snow
Ernest Tubb
Elvis
Conway Twitty
Loretta Lynn
He also put out some solo albums.. One of the best is called ''instrumentally yours''.. In the early fifties he formed a band called The Slew foot five.,
Look it up on you tube, you might like it .

I don't know why ,but I did forget to mention that he played the lead guitar in Marty Robbins El Paso.. It was a borrowed guitar with nylon strings.

Other guitar pickers that you may remember. Billy Walker, Chet Atkins, Willie Nelson, Hank Snow, Don Rich, Roy Clark, Jethro Burns, Arthur Smith.

Chet Atkins, Grady Martin, Floyd Cramer, Bob Moore, Buddy Harmon and Anita Kerr served as the RCA "house band" for a time during the Nashville Sound era. With occasional guest appearances by Lloyd Green and Johnny Gimble.
